This contribution explores Southeast Asia as a privileged vantage point for analyzing the socio-political dynamics of the People's Republic of China (PRC) beyond the official narrative of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Through the case of Singapore and its distinctive approach to Chinese culture, it highlights how local perceptions reveal a more complex and multifaceted China compared to dominant views in the West.
