Abstract

The predominant role of the English language seems to overshadow the language policy for plurilingualism promoted by the European Council. However, while it is true that the English language constitutes a professional and an international “passport”, the acquisition of other languages will help European citizens improve their intercultural awareness. In tertiary education, university language centres can provide learners, teachers and other users with tools for improving and developing competences in different languages. This paper illustrates the activities carried out by CLA-UniTO since 2013 to meet the needs of the university student population as well as those of primary and secondary school teachers in the area of CLIL.
