The key point of critical "deconstruction" with respect to the discourse concerning the current and prevailing system of production, distribution and consumption of food focuses on the necessity of overcoming the progressive assimilation of the food category to a "commodity" and the negative ecosystem and social effects that this has entailed. The alternative vision proposes to bring this good back to its commons nature, as a multidimensional socio-ecological system, inclusive and expressive of values that are the basis of the social pact itself. In this context the contribution explores the possible implications in terms of "re-embedding" of the local food system considered in reference to the recovery of its territorial dimension through the concept of "foodshed". In such a prospect local Agrifood system (LAAFS) is conceived as an inductive factor of values and criteria for new forms of local governance whereas the soundness and presence of these principles are scrutinized in the most recent practices of Food Communities lately flourished in the Tuscany region
