Deleuzian Tribute

  • Paolo Vignola Pontificia Università Antonianum di Roma.

Abstract

The paper aims to offer a kind of philosophical homage to Gilles Deleuze, showing not only his actuality in the present, but also and above all his untimeliness as the ability to move even against one’s own epoch, in function of a future of critical thought. After a definition of the concepts of actual and virtual, the text tries to stress Foucault’s famous statement on the “Deleuzian century” in order to subsequently indicate an alternative to this form of actualisation. Such an alternative, which takes its starting point from Deleuze’s untimeliness and hostility towards the new philosophers, tries to indicate the path of spectrality as a possible dimension of Deleuzian thought in our present.
