Reflections on the relationship between self-care and the act of creation

Abstract

I propose a reflection on the relationship between the way I create and the care of myself. I try to investigate, starting from myself, the mechanisms of creation from the point of view of the impact the evolution of life has on it. I want to reflect on the illusion of being able to control incidents. The solitude I find myself in during the creative process can be useful in a process of self-consciousness. This loneliness may become a painful but vital object to deal with in order to create and write.

Benedetto Sicca

Presidente dell’Associazione Culturale LUDWIG-officina di linguaggi contemporanei e membro del cda di BAAM! Srl-i.s. Dopo la laurea in giurisprudenza si diploma come attore presso l’ANAD “Silvio D’Amico”. Lavora per il cinema, la radio e la televisione. In teatro con Luca Ronconi, Massimo Castri, Mario Martone, Lorenzo Salveti, Giuseppe Marini e Ninni Bruschetta. Al cinema con Abel Ferrara, Michele Placido e Antonio Capuano. Nel 2008 si perfeziona in tecniche di vocalità molecolare e lavora con la Socìetas Raffaello Sanzio. Come drammaturgo e regista vince alcuni premi ed è prodotto da importanti festival internazionali. Scrive per il teatro, il teatro musicale, il cinema e la televisione. Collabora con Luca Ronconi come regista assistente per l’opera lirica e assistente didattico presso il Centro Teatrale Santa Cristina. Nel 2012 collabora con Robert Wilson presso il Watermill Center come produttore esecutivo e regista associato. Nel 2013 è regista residente della Compagnia Internazionale Looking for Michele e all’Atir-Teatro Ringhiera di Milano. Collabora stabilmente con “Insonnia Team”, con cui scrive e realizza concept di cartoni animati in 3D. È docente presso l’Accademia di Perfezionamento della Fondazione Paolo Grassi di Martina Franca e attualmente selezionatore per la sezione teatro europeo della Fondazione Bogliasco di New York. Debutta nel luglio 2014 con la sua prima regia lirica in occasione della quarantesima edizione del Festival della Valle d’Itria.
