Nel mondo tardoantico il contenuto delle lettere non rimaneva confinato alla scrittura del mittente e alla lettura silenziosa del ricevente, ma era divulgato presso un pubblico più ampio di ammiratori che era chiamato a interiorizzarle, diffonderle e apprezzarne lo stile.
In Late Antiquity the content of the letters did not remain confined to the sender's writing and to the silent reading of the receiver, but was disseminated to a wider audience of admirers who were called upon to internalize them, spread them and appreciate their style.
