This article aims to study the contribution offered by the media in the process of understanding the being and therefore the effects they have on reality and experience. Within the comparison between two Italian philosophers, Gianni Vattimo and Maurizio Ferraris, the article lays the foundations for reflection on the ontological status of the media and secondly on the ways digital and mediality reconfigure the relationship that man has with the truth. Media hermeneutics would therefore constitute both the field of study and the theoretical tool for analyzing this relationship, because it is the only perspective which, given the question about the foundations (reality and truth) in a post-metaphysical context, it questions at the same time also on the legitimacy of its own philosophical action, that is, on the set of those discursive practices, oral and written, that it itself articulates.
