The paper deals with questions related to the method of Husserl’s phenomenology. It is argued that Husserl’s analysis of different kinds of intuitional consciousness (anschauendes Bewusstsein) should be regarded as functional towardsthe elaboration of the method of phenomenology as a science of essences. The paper especially focuses on Husserl’s analyses of phantasy – and picture – consciousness and highlights the specific relevance of such analyses for the phenomenological method.
