Abstract

The matter of the relationship between secularism and democracy takes today a deep public meaning on a both theoretical and practical level. The messianic preaching of Jesus of Nazareth does not have a theocratic and absolutist nature, it is instead the announcement of an offer that is based on a freedom of conscience. Those who adhere to the message of Christ are committed to achieving righteous and good relationships with other men. Communities that are inspired by the figure of Christ strive to achieve through training, study, research, that greater subject, in the words of Ratzinger, that is open and accessible to anyone who listens to the mystery, and establish a righteous and fraternal relationship among people, creating a shared ethos.
