Abstract

Trópos dedicates a second issue to the concept of creativity. The collected contributions propose a reconstruction of some of the ways in which the theme has been articulated historically in the course of Western thought. What does it mean to 'produce the new'? What is the relationship between innovation and tradition? A complex and multidimensional picture emerges, ranging from Plato to 20th century philosophy, passing through salient episodes in the history of European art and culture.
