The Phenomenology, despite referring to the scientific thought of the late ’800s, has had a strong religious interest since its origins. In this paper I attempt to reconstruct the religious elements which have determined the development of early phenomenology through the work of Husserl, the young Heidegger and Stein. Husserl’s attention for the philosophy as rigorous science, as well as Heidegger’s interest for historicity, have a religious motivation that becomes explicit in Edith Stein’s Christian phenomenology.
