Abstract

The present study traces the russian peasant wedding in its evolution and characteristics throughout history, describing at first the distinctive features of the east-european wedding pattern, all the hallmarks of his wedding market and the various changes undergone in the course of time, and then analyzing in detail all the moments of the ancient wedding ritual through the eyes of the bride, figure subjected to the weirdest magical ceremonies and to the most radical changes.
