Abstract

It is not easy to identify the articulations and the evolutionary lines of a term, after all so vague and abused, as the myth in the visual arts of the twentieth century: not for nothing, an attempt in this sense with ambitions of exhaustiveness, until now, not it has never been addressed in the areas of history and criticism of visual art, perhaps precisely because of the elusive dimension that the problem assumes in the aforementioned context and the numerous variations that it presents and presented over the course of the century.
