Author Biography

Magda Romanska

Nata in Polonia ed emigrata nel 1994 negli Stati Uniti, è Associate Professor all’Emerson College di Boston (Department of Performing Arts) e collabora con due importanti istituzioni di Harvard: il Davis Center for Russian and Eurasian Studies e il Minda de Gunzburg Center for European Studies. Si è laureata a Stanford, ha studiato alla Yale School of Drama e alla Mellon School of Theatre and Performance Research di Harvard, e ha conseguito il Ph.D in Theatre and Film alla Cornell University con una tesi sulla rappresentazione della morte e della femminilità. Dal 2010 fa parte del comitato editoriale della rivista «Polish Theatre Perspective Journal» del Grotowski Institute. Ha ricevuto vari premi per la sua attività di studio e di ricerca e, tra le sue numerose pubblicazioni scientifiche, spiccano i recenti volumi: The Post-Traumatic Theatre of Grotowski and Kantor. History and Holocaust in “Akropolis” and “Dead Class” (Anthem Press, London 2012), Boguslaw Schaeffer: an Anthology (Oberon Books, London 2012), The Routledge Companion to Dramaturgy (Routledge, New York 2014), Comedy: an Anthology of Theory and Criticism (Palgrave MacMillan, New York 2014).
