V. 18 (2024): Luca Bellone, Virginia Pulcini (eds.), "The Language of Youth and Anglophilia in Italian, French and Spanish", Dipartimento di Lingue e Letterature Straniere e Culture Moderne – Università degli Studi di Torino, Torino 2024
The essays included in this volume are based on the papers presented at the international conference “Linguaggio giovanile e anglofilia nelle lingue romanze”, which was held at the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures and Modern Cultures (University of Turin) on 23-24 November 2023.
The volume focuses on the growing influence of English on the language of European youth, a variety which is widely recognized as a creative laboratory of lexical innovation. The main objective of this international project is to analyze this phenomenon from a cross-linguistic perspective, obtaining data across languages that are historically related ‒ Italian, French and Spanish ‒ and that notoriously uphold divergent attitudes toward the acceptance of foreign words. In particular, the aim was to describe English-induced lexical and morpho-syntactic borrowings that emerge in spoken and written genres and that characterize the areas of greater impact in young people’s lives, interests and experience, i.e., web communication and entertainment, music, gaming, audio-visual products (tv series and films), to quote the main ones.
