Abstract

The article is the description of some of the themes dealt with in the book Bauman/Bałka (2012), recording of a meeting in Leeds the previous year between the Polish artist and the sociologist and philosopher, emigrated from Poland following the anti-Semitic campaign in 1968. Starting from Bałka's working methodology, the conversation touches the themes of memory, artistic creation, the sense of the past, the capacity (and the obligation) of the art to reflect upon it.
