Abstract

Ludovico (Vico) D’Incerti (Carpi 1902, Milan 1988), a ‘fascist of the first hour’, was for twenty years manager of Ferrania Apparecchi, designer of industrial machinery (in the field of photo-cinematography, he designed the Rondine camera for Ferrania and patented the Totalrama), a renowned numismatist, councillor of the Cineteca Italiana, historian and collector of Italian silent films, in particular of the Great War. A unique collection that formed the basis of Il Piave mormorò (D’Incerti, Guido Guerrasio, 1964). The contribution investigates D’Incerti’s passion for film between collecting, film’s history and philology and techno-engineering solutions for film preservation, an approach that is surprising for its anticipatory character with respect to themes and issues that would only fully emerge later.
