Raúl Fornet-Betancourt, Intercultural Philosophy, Latin American Philosophy, Polyphony, Silenced VoicesAbstract
The present text interrogates the concept of intercultural philosophy, starting from Fornet-Betancourt in the context of Latin American philosophy, in order to think in another way a possible referential identity that does not attribute to difference any segregation. By admitting that interculturality reveals the historical character of our being in the world and that it is an intrinsically historical practice, it is inferred, therefore, to evidence an exercise of thought that leaves the place of certainties to enter worlds that want to listen to the other, especially the silenced voices. It is a glimpse to overcome the monocultural scope, present in many philosophical productions, in search of a polyphony that resonates in the diverse voices through the contrast with the other. It is an invitation to think about the reconstruction of the history of (philosophical) ideas in our continent from our own traditions.
