Physical indeterminism and natural metaphysics — The determinism-indeterminism dichotomy is part of the most burning issues of our time with important philosophical, scientific, ethical and juridical consequences, in particular on the mind–body problem and on free will. Indeterminism begins as a problem of measurement evolving, then, as an ontological problem, whose repercussions have influenced large categories of contemporary culture. However, being a problem that involves the global reality of man, there is the risk of dealing in a generic way with issues and protagonists of a debate that, due to its vastness and depth, can only be tackled from a specific point of view. Beyond the inevitable introductory notes of a general nature, therefore, attention will focus on the field of natural philosophy and the epistemology of physical indeterminism.
