To speak of holidays means to speak of time. The time of holidays is not vacation time, that is, empty time; rather, it is meaningful time that refers beyond itself. Today, however, it is difficult to experience such a kind of time. Due also to the impact of new technologies, today time has, as it were, exploded; that is, it appears as separated into instants that are lively intensely but not in a connection. The condition to be able to think of the time of holidays is thus the retrieval of temporal continuity and its meaning.
