Abstract

The evaluation of the quality of scientific research is a thorny issue, particularly in those fields that require a revolutionary approach rather than an incremental progress. This is the case of the sciences of the mind that struggle to find a shared theoretical landscape. Currently, psychology dwells on the explanatory promissory notes made by neuroscience. Yet, it is unclear whether neuroscience will deliver what it is currently promising. In this paper, we outline the dangerous loop between society’s reaction and research assessment regarding neuroscience’s pretence of becoming the new science of the mind.
