The authors consider the topic of seriousness in its connection with time and, in particular, with lived time. They outline the special times of boredom and adventure in order to get to the very delicate and precarious synthesis obtainable through seriousness. Then they relate these movements to the Ego states, namely, Parent, Adult, and Child, the constitutive psychic sides of our identity according to Transactional Analysis. It is time for the Adult to confront life in a serious way, driven by consciousness but maintaining the smile and desire of adventure, always striving towards knowledge.
