The concluding chapter of the Doctrine of Essence in the Science of Logic constitutes a paradigmatic nexus within Hegelian speculation, marking the transition from the traditional metaphysics of substance to a processual logic. Through the so-called refutation of Spinozism, Hegel acknowledges the significance of substance as an indispensable moment of philosophy, while simultaneously revealing its insufficiency to account for mediation, process, and freedom. This passage not only allows for a reconstruction of the conceptual transformation of modern philosophy but also highlights its enduring theoretical relevance within contemporary philosophical discourse.
