Abstract

In the contemporary era, digital media is pivotal for researching, disseminating and promoting Cultural Heritage within communities. This article, centered on the Parish Church of Saint John the Baptist of Foz do Douro, highlights the value of employing 3D reconstruction and a 360º virtual tour for effectively communicating and promoting local heritage. Capitalizing technological advancements, these tools enhance understanding of the specificities and historical importance of built heritage, fostering bilateral relations between civil society and their collective Cultural Heritage.

Author Biographies

Tiago Cruz, Flup - CITCEM

Tiago Trindade Cruz is a post-doctoral researcher at CEAU-FAUP, actively involved in preparing Álvaro Siza's work for UNESCO World Heritage List nomination. With a Ph.D. in Heritage Studies, he is a member of CITCEM/FLUP and CEAU/FAUP, as well as the UNESCO Chair "Heritage, Cities, and Landscapes" at FAUP. Formerly, he served as a Scientific Research Fellow in the "Siza ATLAS" program (SIZA/ETM/0023/2019) at FAUP.

Marisa Pereira Santos, CITCEM-FLUP

Marisa Pereira Santos has a PhD in Heritage Studies - History of Art, with the research "Silêncio... a Foz vai doirando lentamente..." Território, Devoção e Práticas Culturais da Foz do Douro, FCT (SFRH/BD/145807/2019). She is an integrated researcher at CITCEM in the Tangible and Intangible Heritage group. Since 2019/2020 she has been collaborating with FLUP in the scope of PEUS and PRR Training, as a Lecturer. She currently holds the position of Senior Technician in Art History at the Municipality of Guimarães, integrating the Hereditas project.
