Author Biography

Michelguglielmo Torri, University of Turin

Michelguglielmo Torri, a former Harkness Fellow, a retired Full Professor of Asian History (University of Turin) and presently the president of Asia Maior, an Italian think tank on Asia (https://www.asiamaior.org/) is the doyen of the Italian historians working on South Asia. He has widely published in Italian and English. Some of his articles have appeared in Rivista Storica Italiana, Asian Survey, Economic and Political Weekly, Journal of the Royal Asiatic Society, Modern Asian Studies, Studies in History, and The Indian Economic and Social History Review. His most important work is A History of India, 3 vols., New Delhi: Manohar, 2024.
