Abstract

ABSTRACT: In our study we will try to analyze the procedures through which the Peruvian writer Claudia Ulloa Donoso (Lima, 1979) manages to transfer a set of formal and thematic features belonging to the sociological and cultural structure of post-modernity to the literary level. In order to study the translation of certain contemporary idiosyncrasies to the literary framework, we will analyze the book Pajarito, a compilation of stories which the author wrote in Norway and published in 2015. The presence of these “expressions of contemporaneity” in the volume can be summarized in the following aspects: a) the consolidation of a process of “de-territorialization of writing”, which had already manifested itself at the end of the 20th century, and which has been consolidated in the first two decades of the new century. We will try to verify how Pajarito reflects the lack of coincidence between the place of production of the literary text and the genetic / cultural space of origin of the author; this kind of distance creates fiction texts that reveal a “decentralized culture”; b) a literary trend focused on the creation of ultra-short texts. In the specific case of Pajarito, Ulloa Donoso manages to create a textual structure of thirty short stories interspersed by ultra-short texts, which even appear devoid of title; c) finally, a literary trend focused on the construction of fiction works connected with the autobiographical genre: so that the practice of writing seems to exert an almost cathartic-anthropological function, as a subjective introspection and as a form of self-knowledge.
