Abstract

The stage version of La verdadera historia de la muerte de Francisco Franco by José Ramón Fernández raises significant critical reflections on the transcoding procedures of Max Aub's story. In fact, in the theatrical adaptation Fernández uses and develops the oral structure proper to the story, and that confirms the idea of a dramatic dimension innate to the original text. In a broader sense, the dramaturgy of the tale can be interpreted as a further link in the inclusion process of Aub's writing into the current Spanish literary context.
