La ficción: baluarte de la memoria en Max Aub y Antonio Muñoz Molina

Abstract

This paper aims to highlight how the narratives of Max Aub and Antonio Muñoz Molina serve as instruments of resistance against the amnesia imposed by Francoism. Using as reference the novels that make up Aub's Laberinto mágico and Muñoz Molina's Beatus Ille, La noche de los tiempos, El jinete polaco, and Sefarad, the analysis will focus on the resources and strategies employed by both authors to recreate the war, Francoism, and exile, providing a version of events that reflects the truth, avoids simplistic manicheism, and pays tribute to all those victims not acknowledged by historiography. Ultimately, this paper seeks to demonstrate that fiction can prove to be a crucial tool for recovering and transmitting those silenced truths and for building a more inclusive, just, and democratic historical memory.

El presente trabajo desea destacar cómo las narrativas de Max Aub y Antonio Muñoz Molina actúan como instrumento de resistencia contra la desmemoria impuesta por el franquismo. Tomando como referencia las novelas que componen el Laberinto mágico aubiano y Beatus Ille, La noche de los tiempos, El jinete polaco, y Sefarad de Muñoz Molina, se afrontará el análisis de los recursos y estrategias empleados por ambos autores para recrear la guerra, el franquismo y el exilio dando una versión de los hechos que refleje la verdad, huya de simplismos maniqueos y rinda homenaje a todas aquellas víctimas que la historiografía no recoge. En definitiva, se tratará de demostrar que la ficción puede revelarse una herramienta crucial para recuperar y transmitir aquellas verdades que fueron silenciadas y construir una memoria histórica más inclusiva, justa y democrática.
