El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar las diferentes estrategias traductoras para el trasvase interlingüístico de expresiones marcadas diafásica y diatópicamente. Desde un enfoque descriptivista, observaremos qué técnicas se han aplicado para la traducción del lenguaje argótico y de los mexicanismos en las dos versiones italianas (2003 y 2014) de la novela Los detectives salvajes (1998) de Roberto Bolaño. En primer lugar, nos focalizaremos en los rasgos lingüísticos y discursivos de la novela, sobre todo en lo que se refiere a la oralidad simulada en el discurso directo de sus personajes, cuya caracterización sociocultural está fuertemente denotada por su uso más o menos marginal de la lengua. Sucesivamente, presentaremos las ocurrencias de los mexicanismos presentes en el texto original, distinguiendo entre expresiones tabuizadas y no malsonantes. Finalmente, cuantificaremos las tendencias que han imperado en las dos traducciones italianas a fin de destacar las diferencias principales entre las dos versiones en lo referente al lenguaje argótico y regional.

Abstract

The current study aims at carrying out an analysis of the different strategies for the translation of those expressions which are diaphasically and diatopically marked. Using a descriptivist approach, we will draw attention to the techniques which have been implemented for the translation of vernacular expressions by the two Italian versions (2003; 2014) of Roberto Bolaño’s novel Los detectives salvajes (1998). The first part of the research is centred on the linguistic and discursive features of the novel, particularly on the simulated orality which emerges from direct speeches. In fact, characters’ sociocultural profiling is strongly linked to their linguistic marginalization. The second part focuses on the occurrences, within the corpus, of mexicanisms, of which we will distinguish between taboo expressions and those which are only diatopically marked. Finally, we will quantify the translation tendencies arised, so as to highlight the main differences between the two Italian versions with regard to slang and vernacular language.
