Resumen

Taking a panoramic view at the editorial relations between Italy and Spain, the present article aims at investigating the fundamental role the publishing houses decisions play in defining the profile of Spain in Italy and in understanding the importance these two countries attribute to each other. The specific editorial cases explored in this article are the narrative work of Nobel Prize winner Camilo José Cela and the novel Lola, espejo oscuro (1950) by Darío Fernández Flórez. The reception of the two authors, hindered both in Italy and in Spain despite the profound differences between their respective cultural and socio-political contexts, illustrates the partial and limited image of the Spanish literature of the 1940s and 1950s in Italy.
