“To Earn the first academic degree at the University”. Documentary Traces on Vittorio Alfieri’s Secondary and University Education

Abstract

Unpublished accounting records held by University of Turin Historical Archives are particularly enlightening about Vittorio Alfieri’s secondary and university education. What Alfieri himself remembers and reveals in his Autobiography is sometimes misleading and needs constantly to be checked with external records, when possible. Some doubts and inconsistencies still remain.
