Abstract

Storyteller, literary critic, University professor, translator, screenwriter, but first of all partisan and protagonist of one of the most significant episodes of Resistance in Piedmont, Mario Bonfantini (Novara, 1904 - Turin, 1978), thanks to his political, social and cultural commitment, can stimulate a multidisciplinary debate around his figure. Starting from the studies so far conducted, the Humanities Department of the University of Turin, in collaboration with the University of Cassino and Lazio Meridionale and with the Historical Institute of Resistance in Novara, organized the convention Mario Bonfantini: un salto nella libertà, which took place on December 16, 2016 in Turin. This convention allowed the investigation of Mario Bonfantini’s figure and work through a number of critical looks that have created a dialogue between his life and his readings, his moral ideals, his literary and academic production, returning a complex but extremely coherent image of this writer.
