The essay offers a review of Mario Bonfantini’s most significant literary experiences, retracing the links between writing and personal memories, among his readings and his narrative and essay production, from youth tests such as Poesia d’Accademia and the translation and commentary of the Chanson de Roland, to his monograph on Baudelaire and the essay Stendhal e il realismo, up to his screenwriting experience alongside Mario Soldati.
