ATMA 2026 – Approximation: Theory, Methods and Applications
This call for papers invites contributions to a Special Issue of the Journal of Approximation Software dedicated to the publication of software and accompanying articles related to approximation theory, numerical analysis, and their applications, within the scientific scope of the ATMA 2026 – Approximation: Theory, Methods and Applications conference, held in January 2026 at the University of Calabria (Italy).
This edition of ATMA acknowledges the contributions of Professor Ezio Venturino, who was an active member of the RITA network. His passion for mathematics and his scientific insights remain a source of inspiration for our community.
The Special Issue aims to publish well-documented, open-source software together with structured companion papers, addressing theoretical foundations, algorithmic aspects, implementation details, and applications of approximation methods in a broad sense.
Topics include, but are not limited to, software developed to study problems related to:
- approximation theory, polynomial and rational approximation, interpolation
- meshless and kernel-based methods
- numerical integration and numerical linear algebra
- numerical solution of ordinary and partial differential equations
- scientific computing and simulation
- image, signal, and data processing
- learning-based and data-driven approximation methods
- applications in applied and computational mathematics
All submitted manuscripts must be original, closely related to the accompanying software, and will undergo the standard peer-review process of the Journal of Approximation Software. Only substantially extended and original versions of conference contributions will be considered.
This Special Issue is addressed to researchers and practitioners working in the above-mentioned areas, in particular to participants of ATMA 2026.
