The formatting standard for the Journal of Approximation Software uses the class jas.cls for LaTeX that is available here, alongside the template of an article.
For the first submission, there is no need to match the formatting standards, but this becomes mandatory after the first round of review.
It is mandatory to submit a single .pdf file containing the manuscript and a "Declaration of interests" (one can follow the proposed version in the template).
The manuscript should include a link to the presented software which has to be available freely at an open access repository (e.g., GitHub): this is a necessary condition for the manuscript to be taken into consideration for publication on the Journal of Approximation Software.
