Abstract

The paper is centered on the analysis of Hilbig’s poem “Ophelia”. The first part focuses on the previous pictorial and literary interpretations of Shakespeare’s character, with particular stress on Millais, Rimbaud and Heym. The second part of the essay highlights how Ophelia’s corpse engenders a rhetoric of the ecological death in our modern world.
