The synergy between artificial intelligence and medical education

2024-06-10

Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerges as a powerful tool to innovate training and educational processes, offering new opportunities to improve learning and teaching, especially in healthcare. At the same time, AI opens up new ethical and professional challenges that need to be addressed, particularly through effective training and by establishing appropriate models of intervention.

For this reason, Tutor, which has always been committed to promoting advanced research and practice in medical pedagogy and education, is dedicating its next call to the applications of Generative Artificial Intelligence, both in university teaching and in training and continuing education.

The call focuses mainly, but not exclusively, on the following topics:

Virtual Tutoring Systems: Using AI-based conversational agents to provide personalized support and feedback to students in educational pathways.

Educational Content Generation: Innovative approaches for automated creation of educational materials, such as texts, exercises, and clinical cases.

Simulations and Immersive Learning: Development of AI-based virtual environments for realistic and immersive medical simulations, enabling students to acquire hands-on skills in safe and controlled settings.

Personalization of Learning: Use predictive algorithms to tailor learning paths to individual student needs and optimize learning outcomes.

Student Behavior Analysis: Using natural language analysis and machine learning techniques to understand student learning patterns and improve instructional strategies.

Ethical considerations and challenges in AI-enhanced education.

We invite original research articles, reviews, case studies, and perspectives that advance our understanding of AI and medical pedagogy synergies. Submissions must adhere to the journal guidelines and undergo a rigorous blind review process.
