Abstract

This study intends to present the traces of the doctrinal development of the figure of Charis within the Platonic tradition and the story of the conceptual divorce between Charis and feminine divinity within Christian theology. This is the story of the absorptions and recompositions of the rays of Beauty through many prisms. In concluding, the essay indicates some obstacles that prevented the history of Christian thought from formulating a complete theory of Beauty and argues that the elimination of such obstacles would bring additional doctrinal development.
