Abstract

After revealing the male identity of Edvige Benigni, the first woman to graduate in Medicine and Surgery at the Regia Università degli Studi di Roma turns out to be Marcellina Corio. In this paper, through the use of archival documents, I try to retrace the life of this pioneer who has remained in the shadows until now. In fact, the goal is to remember this figure and the events that characterized her short life trusting that they may be an inspiration for young people approaching the medical-health care world, but also for those who already work or operate in it.
