The study of anatomy is a fundamental path for dealing with medical and surgical problems. This aspect was already known to Frederick II of Swabia who issued, even before the institutional and pontifical dispensations and authorizations, including the bull of Sixtus IV, regulations that required anatomical studies. On this path Antonio Nanula founded the Anatomical Theater in the Prisons or San Francesco di Paola Hospital. In this work, not only the salient as-pects of the "life" of this theater are outlined, through little-known documents, but also an attempt is made to trace some aspects of the life of the anatomist.
