Un ὑποβολιμαῖος in famiglia. La commedia di Menandro nel suo contesto
Main Article Content
Abstract
This paper focuses on the meaning of the Greek word hypobolimaios and outlines the character of the so-called hypobolimaios in classical Athens (Herodotus, Aristophanes, Plato, Demosthenes, Aristotle). Finally, it suggests an interpretation of a selected group of fragments taken from Menander’s Hypobolimaios (frr. 374, 375, 377, 379, 387) and of a marble relief preserved at the National Archeological Museum in Naples (inv. 6687).
