Stefano Gualeni, The Clouds. An experiment in theory-fiction, New York, Routledge 2024, 160 pp.

Daniele Monaco is a PhD candidate at the University of Perugia, researching the relationship between

community and place through the concept of Genius Loci. His research aims to investigate the

ontology of places and communities, seeking ways to regenerate their connection. During a research

stay at the Institute of Digital Games in Malta, he explored the application of Heidegger's philosophy

of dwelling and Norberg-Schulz’s Genius Loci to virtual worlds. He is the author of an article in the

Italian journal Metaxy “Abitare i nuovi mondi. L’esistenza dei luoghi nel virtuale” (exp. 2025).

Among the various conferences he has attended, he participated to the Games and Philosophy

Networks’ workshop “Representation in Games” (2023), where he presented “Spirit of the Place. The

challenge of Genius Loci representation in the games world”. At the World Congress of Philosophy

in Rome, he presented “L’abitare nell’era del digitale” (2024).
