Abstract

Starting from an exploration of myth and its various interpretations within religious and rationalist contexts, the essay aims to show how, in the realm of modern rationalism, myth itself has ceased to be a repository of ineffable truth and has instead been reduced to a practical tool. This reduction culminates in a pervasive mythologism functional to the technocratic society, whose current profound crisis, marked by the alarming triumph of alienation and relativism, underscores the urgent need for a restoration of ethics grounded in the religious dimension. The proposal of an ontological personalism, which recognizes the human being as a divine image, offers a path toward a radical transformation of our anthropological perspective and could represent a viable means to address the current global challenges, ensuring both the moral and physical survival of humanity, while fostering a quest for truth and freedom that transcends mere technical praxis.
