Resumen

Teatro y medicina en el primer cuarto del siglo XXI, edited by José Romera Castillo, gathers contributions from the XXXIII Seminario Internacional del SELITEN@T (UNED, Madrid, 2024).  The meeting was dedicated to the study of the dialogue between theater and medicine in theatrical production from 2000 to 2024, addressing Spanish, Ibero-American, and international theater. The volume therefore explores the fertile interdisciplinary territory that opens up between theater and medicine, a field which, in recent decades, has demonstrated its capacity to generate new critical perspectives on the body and health in contemporary performance. Sections "Teatro y covid-19", "Teatro y salud corporal", and "Teatro y salud mental" analyze pandemic-era performances, hospital theatre projects, and representations of illness and mental health. Studies highlight theatre as a space for emotional, cognitive, and ethical reflection, social critique, and recovery of silenced voices. Overall, the book reinforces SELITEN@T’s leading role in research on contemporary theatre and its intersections with medicine.
