The essay addresses, starting, first of all, from the intense volume this text deals with and that is mentioned in the title, the importance and centrality of Dante the "narrator", or the Dante who knows how to guide us on an unsurpassed journey into any kind of otherworld, adventure, and encounter. It is no coincidence that in the reviewed volume this aspect appears, due to the contemporary narrators involved, to be crucial and a decisive element in Dante's modern reception. In short, the “letter” of Dante's text should not be underestimated and is indeed essential as an ethical viaticum, as well as an aesthetic one, for the understanding of yesterday’s world as well as the present one. In giving account to this particular vocation that Dante has for "narrating", the essay obviously relies on the referenced volume, which collects precious testimonies of the greatest contemporary writers on an international level.
