Abstract

This essay sets out to interpret Calvino’s Cosmicomics in the light of Joseph Meeker’s evolutionary theory of literary genres.

Serenella Iovino, Università di Torino

SERENELLA IOVINO insegna Filosofia morale all’Università di Torino. E’ Research Fellow della Fondazione “Alexander- von-Humboldt”, e dal 2008 al 2010 è stata presidente della  European Association for the Study of Literature, Culture and Environment (EASLCE, www.easlce.eu). Tra i suoi libri recenti, Filosofie dell’ambiente: Natura, etica, società (Carocci, 2004), Ecologia Letteraria: Una strategia di sopravvivenza (Ed. Ambiente, 2006) e Material Ecocriticism, curato con Serpil Oppermann (in uscita con Indiana University Press).

 

Serenella Iovino teaches Moral Philosophy at the University of Torino. She is Research Fellow of the “Alexander-von-Humboldt” and has been (2008-10) president of the European Association for the Study of Literature, Culture and Environment (EASLCE, www.easlce.eu). Among her latest work: Filosofie dell’ambiente: Natura, etica, società (Philosohpy of environment: Nature, ethics, society, Carocci, 2004), Ecologia Letteraria: Una strategia di sopravvivenza (Ecological literature: a strategy of survival, Ed. Ambiente, 2006) and Material Ecocriticism, edited with Serpil Oppermann (to be released for Indiana University Press).
