The relatively small collection of letters exchanged with Brutus during the last year of Cicero's life, between April and July 43 BC, is of particular interest because it leaves us with a vivid record of the most turbulent period in Roman politics, with the emergence and definition of the two personalities of Antony and Octavian, who would mark the decade following Caesar's assassination and the outbreak of civil wars.
