Abstract

This paper explores the integration of Nature-based Solutions into urban planning for climate change adaptation in Hue, Vietnam, as part of the Asian Development Bank's Secondary Green Cities Development Project. Interventions like urban parks, canal dredging, and improved drainage systems were assessed for their effectiveness in addressing flooding and delivering environmental, social, and economic co-benefits. Collaboration between the University of Trento and Hue University allowed the development of a site-specific methodology, leading to over 500 resident interviews. Findings highlight valuable socio-economic outcomes despite the limited environmental impact due to lack of broader integration and the potential replicability of Nbs worldwide.
