Abstract

This article explores the complex interactions between International Development Cooperation (Idc), women’s empowerment, and climate change, using a case study of a women’s empowerment project in rural Kenya. Drawing on the women’s lived experiences, it reinforces existing literature on three key points: the need for context-sensitive interventions, the limitations of economic empowerment without broader social change, and the exacerbating role of climate change in reversing development gains. In doing so, the research underscores the importance of better integrating social science perspectives in Idc.
